The entire premise behind the creation of BikeSafeSA was to do just that. Change can be fostered, if people are willing to put some energy into it.

So many drivers we see out on the road are courteous to cyclists. At the same time, there are a lot of aggressive drivers, too. They are aggressive towards cyclists and other drivers.

The other side of the coin shows most cyclists are courteous and safe, but there are aggressive cyclists that do project an arrogant attitiude. As you can see, good & bad on both sides.

The legal system will only do so much to keep us safe. Working towards fostering a better relationship between drivers and cyclists will go a long way, as well.

We have to remove this ‘us VS them’ mentality, as it does more harm that good. And unfortunately, due to it’s size and strength, the auto will win every single time.

But I have faith. I am not naive. But I do believe we can bring about positive changes to increase safety for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers.
