The safety of our roadways is an issue that touches every person, no matter what mode of transportation they may use. Common but flawed perceptions about cycling are at the heart of many of the problems surrounding bicycle safety, from the road-use planners, to the drivers, to the cyclists themselves at times.
Some of these perceptions are the amount of skill required to ride a bicycle, the risk involved in bicycling and the sources of risk, and the legal status of bicyclists on public roads. On one level, the answer to this question is simple: all U.S. states treat bicyclists by law as drivers of vehicles and grant them the same rights and responsibilities as all other drivers. However, the public often believes otherwise.
The education process begins. For cyclists, For motorists. Posted here will be interesting information to bring you some different perspectives.
